Now a junior in college, I feel like I have subconsciously dedicated some time to figuring out where I stand on the political spectrum as well as where my faith lies.
Of course I still have more to figure out and decipher.
But, I have always firmly believed that there is always two sides to every story.
There are some things that I look at objectively, such as, I know that the Sun is hot and that I was born in the United States.
Because it is what it is.
However, when it comes to defining my reality, I have always looked at it through an interpretive lens which many like to criticize.
I am a critical thinker and question absolutely everything and do not accept things as being true until I've done enough research and questioning on the issue.
Which is why I do not identify myself as a Republican or as a Democrat. I agree on some Republican views and I agree on some things that the Democratic Party believes in. NOT EVERY SINGLE THING.
So, I've always chilled out and had a jolly grand time in the middle. Also, that was not sarcasm.
Society, I feel, views those that do not pick one of the sides, are uncertain, uneducated, or incapable individuals.
Which is downright false.
Those that take a closer look at both sides to the story show that they are open to ideas. You want to hear why someone disagrees or agrees with you on a certain topic.
You want to actually listen.
You are hungry to find out the Ifs, the Buts, the Hows, the Whys, and Whats to everything.
I want to reassure those that fall under the middle category, that you are not in any way inadequate.
You are dignified. You are thinkers. You are not any less intelligent than the others.
Why?
Because you're not afraid to be objective AND interpret the way you see your world.
