I Don't Consider Myself To Have Step Or Half Siblings, They're Just My Siblings

The word "step" and "half" stinks. These are my siblings no matter what.

I get asked all the time "how many siblings do you have?" and my answer is always 7. The response I always get is the whole "dang, your mom had a lot of kids." After that response, I have to include that some are my step and some are half.

Those words always kill me when they come out of my mouth because I don't like using those words. They are my siblings no matter how they came into my life. They were actually chosen for me and placed in my life.

I'm forever grateful for them and honestly having so many siblings make life 1,000,000 times better. There is always someone there for me to talk to, a shoulder to cry on, a laugh, a smile, and inside jokes.

You always have someone to hang out with and you're never by yourself. Although sometimes your secrets come out because we tell each other everything and then things can go downhill fast.

When having sisters, you never have to buy clothes because what's theirs is your's and vice versa. Although you have to sneak the shirt, pants, and jeans. Then you can walk out of your room and have their clothes on and they will be surprised and mad since you never asked to borrow it.

Personal Photo

Sometimes, your phone charger goes missing but, it always ends up in your sibling's room. Then, when you ask about it they end up always saying that it's theirs even when it has your initials on it.

Although there are some cons, there are always perks. Having siblings is an amazing thing, no matter the way that they came into your life. Step-siblings and half-siblings are your siblings no matter what. They should not get labels because they love you and you love them. The love is the same and is not different just because of the labels.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
