It's that time of year -- we're all looking for new shows to binge watch to procrastinate studying for our next set of exams. If you don't have time to browse Hulu and Netflix, I've done the work for you! This list of old and new shows will certainly keep you busy.
1. "Scream Queens"
From the producers of "Glee" and "American Horror Story," "Scream Queens" is nothing short of amazing. If you appreciate satirical humor, stereotypically bitchy sorority girls and a mockery of horror movies, you’ll love this show. And have I mentioned the cast? Emma Roberts, KeKe Palmer, Nick Jonas, Ariana Grande, Abigail Breslin, Lea Michele and Jamie Lee Curtis… the list goes on and on, and so does the talent. If you don't already, watch this show. The Chanels will make sure you don’t regret it.
2. "The Newsroom"
Ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes at the major news companies when they aren’t on air? This HBO original show gives you an in-depth look at how stories develop within ACN, a fictional news network, and at the lives of the people who run it. There is drama, wit, humor, romance, and hey, you might even learn something.
3. "Reign"
If you like drama and events loosely based on history (key word being loosely), then "Reign" is for you. The show is centered around Mary, Queen of Scots, and her marriage to the future King of France. But the castle is full of secrets, and being royal is not all that it’s cracked up to be. Romance, royal politics, and a coming-of-age story, what more could you want?
4. "Nashville"
Especially if you live in Nashville, you should be watching this show. Also if you live in Nashville, you should be trying to be an extra on this show, because they film all over the city. "Nashville" is all about the inner workings of the great Music City, and the music in this show is incredible. If you don’t know Maisie and Lennon, Google them right now and you’ll understand. The music, the drama, the show-biz... this show has so many five star components that’ll get you hooked from the first episode.
P.S. Look for me in a red dress in the first episode of Season two at Juliette's concert. Yes, shameless plug for my 0.5 seconds of fame.
5. "Vanderpump Rules"
If you like so-called “reality TV,” then you need to be watching "Vanderpump Rules." Lisa Vanderpump, from the "Real Housewives" franchise on Bravo, owns the hot Beverly Hills restaurant called Sur, and her staff is nothing short of the stereotypical LA millennials. They are all striving to be models and actors, and their serving jobs are just stepping stones on their path to stardom. Well, reality TV stardom. Petty fights and drama, a self-absorbed staff, and beautiful people; this show has everything to satisfy your guilty pleasure.
6. "Finding Carter"
This little-known MTV show first caught my attention from its plot: A girl finds out her mother is actually her kidnapper, and now, she must go back to her real family and essentially start her life all over. You’ll fall in love with Carter and her personality immediately, and the show takes you on a whirlwind journey through her life that you will not be able to stop watching. All of the episodes are on MTV.com, and you can watch them when you sign in with your TV provider, which I suggest you do, immediately.
7. "Bloodline"
If you’ve seen "Friday Night Lights," watch this show because Coach Eric Taylor will blow you away with his incredible acting. Set in the Florida Keys, this show is a typical story about a dysfunctional family with a very untypical series of events. The story is told flashback style, so you know what happens, but you don’t know how. That’s how the show will hook you. The first season is on Netflix, and hopefully there is a second coming soon.
8. "Narcos"
With a look inside the Medellín Cartel, this Netflix Original tells the story of Pablo Escobar, the United States DEA, and the struggle they endure to bring him to justice. The story is presented in an unbiased way, so you’ll find yourself pulling for Escobar and the DEA throughout the series, and the best part? You can watch each episode back to back with no commercials. Thanks, Netflix.
9. "Grace and Frankie"
Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin are absolutely fantastic in this witty and hilarious Netflix Original about two marriages that end because each husband finally admits they are in love with each other. Grace (Fonda) and Frankie (Tomlin) could not be more opposite, but they find comfort and friendship in each other while dealing with their ex-husbands’ new lifestyle. Even with such a unique situation, anyone will be able to relate to this fantastic comedy.
10. "The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt"
If you are a fan of "The Office," you can now rejoice, because Ellie Kemper is back, and in her own show! If you don’t know the premise of this show, it’s likely you’re in the same situation as Kimmy. She was tricked into hiding in a storm shelter for 15 years with two other women thinking that the world had ended, earning the nickname “Mole Women” when they are finally rescued. But, she’s determined to have a life separate from her reputation, so naturally, she takes her chance in New York City. Watch as she tries to catch up on the past 15 years, and make a life for herself. Season 1 is on Netflix now, and Season 2 is in the works.
