College is a great time. You get to choose when your classes are, join organizations, go to the gym (or not), and watch as many shows in one sitting as you want, without your parents coming into the room and yelling at you to get off your butt. It’s wonderful! However, there are those weeks where college is extremely busy and exhausting-- both physically and mentally-- and you want to drop out and become a hobo so you don't have to worry about these sort of these things. Still, many of us college students stay in school even after these hard weeks. That’s because the trick is melting into your couch and watching good shows. Here is a list of shows available on Netflix to potato to for hours!

1. "Parks and Recreation"

Quirky, funny, interesting, and dramatic–what more are you looking for? This show is great for a good laugh, some funny references and a touch of fantastic feminism. It includes trials of romance and humor around every corner. It tells the story of the Parks and Recreation department in Pawnee, Indiana. Every character’s story is so well developed that you are bound to relate to each of them, as well as fall in love with all of them. This is personally one of my favorite shows, and I highly recommend it to everyone!

2. "House, M.D."

For the people who have drier humor like me, this show is fantastic. The story follows the lives of the Diagnostic Unit in and out of the hospital. The episodes always start with a dramatization of the patient’s condition, and then the team starts to figure out what could be going on with the patient, whose symptoms seem completely undiagnosable.

Some of these episodes can be graphic, showing things that are happening inside of the body. Not only does "House, M.D." have a lot of cool science stuff, but it also has some juicy drama in each episode. Dr. House is the best diagnostician and is quite eccentric. His best friend, Wilson, is an oncologist always trying to clean up House’s messes. This is a great show to just have playing in the background.

3. "Friends"

Of course "Friends" is on the list. Arguably one of the most iconic shows to date, "Friends" has made way for a lot of other shows and has created a number of references. This series makes for a great background show and a great laugh. Every episode brings new turns and lots of laughs. You get attached to all of the characters, who are all just trying to navigate life and find love.

4. "How I Met Your Mother"

Rumored to be based on "Friends," HIMYM is this generation’s iconic show, melting together exceptionally witty humor and hopeless romance. It is a great pick-me-up and a must-watch show. It's about five best friends going through New York City trying to find “the one.” The narrator, Ted Mosby, tells the story of how he met his children’s mother, adding in every anecdote from his beginning in NYC to everything after. The whole thing is 10 seasons of legen-wait-for-it-dary jokes!

5. "Gilmore Girls"

If you like drama, this is the perfect show for you! It's funny and different, following mother and daughter, Lorelai and Rory, and all of their friends through life, growing up together in a little town where everyone knows everything about everyone. Rory is a straight-A student learning how to handle an Ivy League school, where everyone is just as smart as her, while also trying to pursue her love life. Each year gets harder and harder with new problems to take care of.

Enjoy your potato time, and good luck with school!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
