Childhood shows that cannot be forgotten!

Shows of the Past

As a college student, I often find myself looking back to the past and lamenting that the shows I watched are now nonexistent or unheard of. So, although it isn’t Friday, let’s have a little flashback!

  • 1)The Wild Thornberrys: A family of documentary filmmakers, a girl that can converse with animals and a pet Chimpanzee… what more could you ask for?
  • 2)Kim Possible: If you haven’t heard of Kim Possible your childhood was bleak. She was tough and determined in every circumstance. She was pretty much the perfect role model.
  • 3)The Powerpuff Girls: Sugar, spice and everything nice. Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup defeat crime while looking cute as buttons. (Yes children, there was a Powerpuff Girls before your substandard remake.)
  • 4)Dragon Tails: “I wish, I wish, with all my heart, to fly with dragons in a land apart.” There is absolutely no way you watched this show without wanting to meet a friendly dragon.
  • 5)Dexter’s Laboratory: An eccentric sister terrorizes her genius brother and his experiments.
  • 6)Courage the Cowardly Dog: One oblivious grandma, one nasty grandpa, and a dog that notices everything and is terrified of it all.
  • 7)Codename Kids Next Door: Young kids that are part of a secret society run and organized by children. Plus, it’s all run inside of treehouses so it’s a child’s dream show.
  • 8)That’s So Raven: I always wanted to be able to see into the future after watching this show.
  • 9)Suite Life of Zach and Cody: Yes, there was an amazing show before Suite Life on Deck. It was all about the shenanigans of the twins inside the hotel in which they lived.
  • 10)The Proud Family: Penny Proud is a growing teen that has much in life to experience. This show is about her everyday adventures in growing up in a family that is very involved in her life.

I hope you enjoyed part one of this two part series! Did your favorite childhood show make the cut?

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.

Oh college, we can’t live with you, but we can’t live without you. It’s a love/hate relationship, really. College is an experience that no one can ever prepare you for, and maybe that’s a good thing. You never really expect any of the things that college encompasses until you are there. College is fun, but don’t have too much fun. C’s get degrees, but they don’t get you into graduate school.

Blair Waldorf

The "Gossip Girl" series may be over, but Blair Waldorf's iconic character lives in our hearts forever. Blair was the queen of the Upper East Side, and a character you either loved or hated. She taught us everything we needed to know about life, love and of course, how to score a Chuck Bass. So the next time you feel a bit lost and are in need of guidance, look no further than to the Queen B herself.

As I spend my Sunday avoiding my homework and other adult responsibilities, I realized that I've watched this series over and over about a million times. Sadly, there isn't a Blair quote I don't know, so I came up with a list of a few favorites. You know you love her...xoxo

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out.
