I am part of what is called the Harry Potter generation, and this is a title I hold proudly. This meant that finding out what Hogwarts house you would be in was one of the most important things...it was a right of passage to get sorted. I have taken probably hundreds of sorting quizzes online, including the official one on Pottermore, and I've always gotten the same response. Hufflepuff. For many people, seeing that word across the screen means denial. No one seems to be proud to put on a black and yellow tie, but there is nothing to hide. Hufflepuff is the place to be, and I can tell you why.

Well, first off we have a badger as our mascot. Badgers are super cool. I mean look at them. Our honey-badgers even had a meme created about them. I don't see any memes about lions or snakes is all I'm saying.

Also, we are a house full of loyal and hard-working people which means we know how to study hard but we also know how to play hard. We believe in house unity and usually make friends with all the houses. Everyone has their strengths and we recognize that.

Sure, we did not get Harry Potter, Luna Lovegood, or Draco Malfoy in our house. But we did get Cedric Diggory, who may I remind you made it to the end of the Triwizard Cup. I did not see a Slytherins or Ravenclaws in there facing dragons and Grindylows. We also got Nymphdora Tonks. I mean she is pretty amazing and she did not care (even a little) about what people thought about her, but she was always there to help her friends when they were in trouble.

I just feel like everyone needs a Hufflepuff friend. We are always there when you just need a hug or for when you need us to help fight. Let me just mention that other than Gryffindor, Hufflepuffs were the house with the most students to show up to fight during The Battle Of Hogwarts in 1997. Speaking of dark wizards, Hufflepuff has produced the least amount of dark wizards between all the four houses.

Also, our common room is next to the kitchen, so I talking unlimited snacks at any time of the day and night! Our common room is full of bright colors and comfy couches for hanging out and studying.

Gryffindors are brave, Ravenclaws are smart, Slytherins are sly, but us Hufflepuffs we are loyal and kind. We treat everyone as equals. People tend to believe that the people in Hufflepuff just do not fit in the other three houses, that we are the leftovers, but in no way is that true. The wizards and witches in Hufflepuff are people who belong; we are people who are overlooked, but don't deserve to be.

We tend to be a humble lot, but here I am standing up to say that I'm proud to be in Hufflepuff. I've never been ashamed, so neither should you. Show your badger pride and show those other houses who we really are. Still don't believe me?

That is okay. Just know we are a cool bunch of people and you are missing out.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
