Why You Should Travel With Your Best Friend

Where are you and your BFF going next?

Picking the next place to travel to is difficult enough, but deciding who you want to go with brings a whole new challenge. Pick your best friend, someone who loves to travel just as much as you and who you can always be yourself around. Throughout my many years of traveling, I've learned many things. One of the most important things I've learned is to pick a good person to travel with. Chances are, if you pick your best friend, you won't regret it.

You and your best friend have similar interests, obviously, otherwise you probably wouldn't be that close. You're two peas in a pod, pals for life, friends forever, the peanut butter to the others jam (you get where I'm going with that). They probably want to experience some of the same things, which means everyone is happy and gets their way. There might be a few things they want to do that you don't and vice versa, but nothing too horrible because they would never make you suffer like that. For the most part, you'll agree on a lot throughout the whole trip.

You'll create inside jokes, as if you didn't have enough already, you'll gain even more between the two of you if you travel together. You'll laugh about things that happened on your trip or repeat things you've heard or said, and no one else will quite understand what is so hilarious. It might get annoying to your other friends after a while, but they can deal with it.

They have the patience to take a billion pictures of you, and you'll do the same for them. Seriously, you can't find this in many people, but your best friend understands your picture needs and won't give up until you have the perfect shot. They know the flattering angles and understand your love for candids. And they take lots of pictures with you that you can keep forever and look back on how much fun you two had together.

You probably already have fun going out together when you're at home, so why would that change when your traveling? Partying and going to bars with your best friend while traveling is even more fun than going out at home, which is probably to be expected. This is probably where most of your new inside jokes will come from. And, they will always be there to save you from weirdos at bars and clubs that might be getting a little too close.

You will test your comfort zone and learn a lot about yourself by traveling with your best friend as well. They will convince you to take some fun risks and step out of your comfort zone a bit while staying by your side. By taking some risks and experiencing travel with another person, you'll end up learning a lot about yourself along the way.

Lastly, your friendship is taken to a whole new, awesome level. You'll create lifelong memories to look back on and remind each other of when you're old and senile and in the nursing home together.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
