Fortnite Battle Royal is described as a survival game in which gamers combat each other until there is only one player left standing. This fast-moving action-packed game requires gamers to use strategic thinking to survive which can be good for children, however, when violence is put into the equation can this have a negative effect on adolescents? There may not be blood or gore in the game like that of Call of Duty: War Zone which is not directed towards children but should a game such as Fortnite Battle Royal in which the aim centers around violence have its directed audience/players be children? The creator of the game without a doubt advertises the game with children in mind as the characters are cartoonish figures that incorporate dance moves that can be as entertaining to watch as well as play. The other day my twelve-year-old brother came up to me showing me the silly floss dance move. It is almost as if children these days are good dancers because of Fortnite, however, does the good of the game outweigh the bad? I do not think the game has enough of an effect to increase the aggressive and violent nature of a child but argue that the game should not have been advertised with children in mind. Why? Because the game is centered around violence and characters often use bad language not to mention those that are playing the game are under the age range of thirteen. In general, the creator never should have advertised the game as "childlike" when in fact it is far from that. As a result, he has encouraged children under the required age range to take part in the game. A mistake? I think not.
