Should Parent Get To "Build" Their Own Baby?

Or are doctors just trying to play God.

Welcome to the twenty first century, where technology has become so far advanced that doctors are now being able to "build" parents their baby. Yes, "build a baby." Parents can choose which genetic characteristics they would want their baby to have, such as the eye and hair color and so on. Not only can parents choose the physical characteristics of their child but also the genetic. They can remove certain genes such as cancers, diseases, and mental illness to insure they have a healthy child. So, if "building" a baby can keep diseases and cancer genetics from being passed down, many would ask "why not do it?" But others say it's doctors trying to play God.

Naturally, knowing that there is a way for certain genes to not be passed on people want to do it. I mean, why wouldn't they? People are always afraid of the unknown. Yet with modern technology, the unknown wont have to be the unknown. I have to say that I am impressed with the technology and the medical advances we have made, but I still can't help but think that doctors are trying to play God with their science and technology. Yes, we have a separation of state and church. We have the right to believe what we want. We have the right to agree and disagree based off of those beliefs. Now, personally based on my own beliefs I feel the negative and the positive of this. I think being able to take out any genes that can prevent a disease or cancer would be amazing, but, at the same time I have to draw the line. I mean, people get saved on a daily bases by doctors. For example, people's hearts stop on a daily bases and doctors resuscitate them back. They play God by bringing them back. Now they want to play God by messing with those entering the world. Not only are playing God, but everyone is beautiful in their own unique way and by being able to change the characteristics, a lot of babies would look the same. I can see it now, many people being blonde hair and blue eyed. I mean that's what society thinks is is beautiful, right?

At the end of the day, everyone has their own beliefs and belief systems. Some people believe more in medicine and technology more then religious belief, while other believe more in their religious beliefs more than they do in medicine and technology. So, I guess the question at hand is would you "build" your baby? Would you do it to prevent the diseases, cancers and mental illnesses from being passed along, or for the physical characteristics?

The way I see it is life isn't perfect so you shouldn't create the "perfect" child, but let the perfect child be created by God the way he wants you to have them.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
