9 Reasons Why You Should Be An Organ Donor

Just the other day, some friends and I were having a conversation when the topic of organ donation surfaced. Three of us proudly stated that we had all registered to be organ donors when we initially got our driver's license, but our one friend looked confused. He hesitantly admitted that he was not an organ donor because the thought of someone cutting out his organs was unsettling. All three of us replied simultaneously, "Don't you want to save a life?!" It became clear that he, like a lot of people, was just uninformed about organ donation and how beneficial it is to those in need.

1. You're already dead.

You have no use for your organs anymore. Why be selfish and keep something so valuable?

2. You can save lives.

Just one organ donor can save up to eight lives and impact more than 50 others.

3. So many people are in need.

About 79 people receive organ transplants, but twenty-one people die every single day while waiting for one. This is because not many people choose to donate their organs.

4. You're giving people the ability to breathe, walk, see, etc.

You can change someone's life drastically.

5. All major religions approve of organ donation.

With the exceptions of some branches of Judaism, Shinto and some Protestant faiths, most religions support and encourage organ donation.

6. You can donate at any age.

No one is ineligible to donate their organs. Even old people are still able to donate functioning organs!

7. If a donor chooses to have an open-casket service, no one will be able to tell he/she donated organs.

Organ donations do not interfere with open-casket funerals because the donor's body will be clothed, so no one will be able to tell.

8. It's super easy to register.

9. And it's free!

Registering to be an organ donor is free, and the actual donation process is free as well. No extra charges will ever be associated with organ donation.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
