Choosing a Facebook profile picture and editing it so it's at its finest quality is stressful beyond belief. As soon as we realize we may actually look attractive in a photo, the questions arise. "Is this worthy of being my profile picture?" "How many likes will I get?"
For some reason, it seems that there are certain backdrops, poses, locations, and events that we as girls absolutely love to be the main focus of our profile picture- I am guilty of it too!
Here are some classic examples of photos you'll find when you flip through a girl's Facebook profile pictures:
1. An Apple Photobooth picture
WHY, oh why did we think this was okay? Did we really want to showcase our brace-face selves with a sepia effect? Like, did that actually even make us look better? And why did we get so close to the camera?
2. A photo turned into a meme
Okay, maybe we haven't all done this, but taking a picture with your best girlfriends and putting the words, "Best friends? More like sisters!" with red hearts over it was a popular and even trendy thing to do in 7th grade.
3. Braces off photo
We have all done it. Who wouldn't want to show off those pearly whites after enduring the struggle of them all throughout middle school? "Braces finally off!"
4. Prom photo
Our hair and make-up are perfection (or so we thought), our dress is beautiful (maybe too "dazzly"), and our cute date is probably awkwardly standing behind us in the classic "prom" pose. But, our Facebooks wouldn't be complete without advertising one of the best nights of high school that marked the end of senior year.
5. Sorority recommendation photos/senior photos
Who wouldn't choose to 'prof' this? Come on, we are all done up and the professional photographer's editing skills are clearly beyond ours and we are probably in a cool nature setting. Even though the company's name may be lightly printed across the photo, there is no shame in wanting to show off a little.
6. Ocean photo
Whether our hair is blowing in the wind while we sail, or we are tanning on the beach in this one, it is always a good excuse to show off that hard-earned beach bod.
7. The classic "artsy" photo
It may be a close-up photo, or a photo of us posing in flowers. You know you've got an "artsy" photo in there somewhere. Don't forget that the quality of this one has to be perfect and crystal clear. When a photo is taken with a high-tech camera like a Nikon, it just turns out better. Duh. And for some reason, Nikon photos are just artsier than most.
8. Europe photo
The trip to Europe wouldn't be complete without snapping photos of every scenic view or landmark, while wearing stylish clothes and looking like an avid traveler. Whether its a photo of sipping wine in Italy, or indulging in coffee and pastries in France, this a common, yet charming one.
9. Letters photo
Gotta have those letters thrown up somewhere in there. Enough said.
10. Classic "having fun" photo
Concerts, music festivals, mixers, parties- the possibilities are endless for a carefree photo op.This photo usually contains one or more people just having a plain ole' good time, wearing cute outfits, cups in hands.
The fact is, we all love the same types of profile pictures, and there's nothing wrong with that! Even though we may use the same types of photos, they are all different and project us individually in our own ways.
