“From what we get, we can make a living; what we give, however, makes a life.” ~ Arthur Ashe
Giving back doesn’t always mean buying someone the grandest gift. It's the smallest smile and the tiniest compliment that goes the longest way. The feeling you get when you are capable of making a difference in someone’s life, is an irreplaceable feeling. The more you give back the more you are able to grow as a person and not so much see the world through your eyes only but you become aware of other’s perspectives that you may have been vainly blind to before.
We often think what creates fulfillment in our lives is bettering ourselves and ourselves only. What we fail to realize is that sometimes putting other’s needs before your own can make you feel more valued and esteemed than putting yourself first.
The most rewarding thing I have done to give back was sponsor a little girl in Africa so she had the opportunity to go to school. The best part of it is receiving her letters about how appreciative she is that she is able to go to school and follow her dreams. Up until that moment I had no idea what impact one good deed could have on someone's life. To know I could be there for someone I had never even meet, gave me such motivation to continue to give back. The slightest contribution could make a world of difference.
