We as humans have done a lot of amazing things in our brief existence on Earth. We’ve invented the combustible engine and found a way to fly. We’ve successfully put a man on the moon and created the Hydrogen bomb. None of these compare to the invention or moreover the understanding of music, though. Since the beginning of human existence we’ve chanted and danced and sooner than later we discovered how to make instruments. Now all of sudden, symphonies of beautiful music were bountiful all over the world. Music is such a profound and amazing concept that in today’s day and age it goes unappreciated.

Music is quite honestly a glimpse into the artist’s soul, and for that reason music is the greatest achievement humans have had. If you go all the way back to Beethoven or to Michael Jackson you realize that while very talented at what they do, they were also pure geniuses. Elvis, Kanye (okay maybe not Kanye), Prince, and Pink Floyd all are considered the “greats” of their said genre and while some more talented than others, they had one thing in common. They wrote and performed what was on their heart and gave listeners a glimpse into their soul.

The best part about music is the way it evokes emotion from the listener. For example, the classic “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley is in my opinion one of the greatest songs of all time. If you’re reading this right now, please go to your browser and play this song. No song gives a glimpse into falling in love like this one. Love, one of the most powerful emotions and the most bonding one at that is almost impossible to describe. However, the beauty of this song is that you can relate and understand that love isn’t forced it just happens. So maybe you don’t fully understand exactly what love is, but you feel the passion and the excitement through the song. As our beloved Elvis so beautifully sings that he can’t help falling in love with you, one must relate that love isn’t forced, it just happens. This I believe is the beauty of music. Writing words and melodies that connect the listener not just with the artist, but also with the emotion itself.

Here is to music, the one crowning achievement of humanity. There is music for sad times and happy times. There is music for when you fall in and out of love and there is music just to make you smile. Whatever may be the reason you choose to listen to a song, take a second and try to feel the passion that was put into that song. Society has seemed to forget the real meaning of music and that is to purely just feel. Music is for that choked up feeling you get when you’re sad and can’t talk. Music says the words that you struggle to say and music heals what you didn’t know needed to be healed. This article is just a appreciation piece for the beauty that is music because without it we’d be lost and with it maybe we all can find something within ourselves we didn’t know was there.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
