I'm 5’2" (and a half) and have learned that there are several things that only short people will understand.

Some of these things fall short of being positive, but you just have to keep looking up.

1. Not being able to reach things on the top shelf

And probably doing slightly dangerous things so you can reach

2. Rarely having to duck

Ducks are birds, not actions you have to do to go through doorframes

3. Having others use you as an armrest

I'm not a piece of furniture

4. Always being visible in a group photo

Unless you get shoved to the back

5. Awkward selfies with anyone taller than you

No matter how hard you try, one of you won't look good in the picture

6. You have a good excuse to wear high heels

That doesn't mean you have an excuse for not being able to walk in them though

7. Having to tailor all your clothes

Demin flippers happen often

8. Mastering the art of standing on your tippy-toes

Tip-toe through the tulips? How about tip-toe so you can reach anything

9. Cooking turns into a workout

At least I can stand on the counters without hitting my head on the ceiling

10. Always having to adjust the seat before driving

Unless you don't want to see over the dashboard

11. Always getting the middle seat during road trips

Just because I have shorter legs doesn't mean I like sitting in the middle

12. You have the best perspective on life

If you're short, things are always looking up

13. Knowing that things only grow until they're perfect

Being short is perfect

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
