A (Short) List Of Short People Problems
Dana Drosdick

In kindergarten I was one of the tallest people in my class. I proudly stood on the highest tier for our class picture, convinced that it would be like this for the rest of my life. Sadly, I peaked at the young age of 10, and by middle school almost everyone had surpassed my height. To this day I am still shorter than the majority of the population, standing two inches below the average woman. To all my fellow short people, this list is for you:

Short People Problems

1.You still need the step stool to reach things on the top shelf.

2. Every group picture you’re stuck front and center.

3. You can never see the artist at stand-up concerts unless you get there three hours before everyone else.

4. Jeans are always too long on you, and you need to cuff them to make them more manageable.

5. You have to constantly move the seat every time you drive a new car.

6. People come up to you and use you as an armrest.

7. You have to ask for help in stores whenever you want something on the top shelf.

8. Every time you hug someone, your nose is at armpit level (and you pray to God that they remembered to wear deodorant).

9. People have a hard time taking you seriously, since everyone literally looks down on you.

10. You practically have to jog to keep up with your friends with long legs.

11. People always mistake you for being younger than you actually are.

12. Everyone laughs when you add the "and a half" at the end of your height.

13. Finding someone in a crowded space is nearly impossible.

14. You don't know what to do when you meet someone shorter than you (looking down at someone just feels so unnatural).

15. People always assume that you'll sit in the middle backseat every road trip.

There you have it, all you short folks. On the bright side, you never have to worry about not having enough legroom in cars and airplanes. You’ll always be able to weave your way through a crowd, and no one can even be mad because you’re just so cute! Shout out to all you shorties out there, you rock!

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
