Dear Little Sisters

A letter to the joyous pains in my life.

Dear Little Sisters

Dear Little Sisters

Wow look at you grow

Wow look at you go

Who would have known that after all this time

You have become what you have

Strong, confident and smart

Although with many scars

It is amazing how you can stand with your heads held up so high

Even down on the earth, your dreams are flying for the sky

And I am watching them soar through life with so much pride

Life has never come easy

To me or to you

But now we have a couple stories

More than a few

Sometimes I cannot help but stare

When you are singing or talking or when you give that secret glare

My pride and envy are secrets I try to keep

I do not want your head to explode with cockiness after all

The size of it means nothing

It cannot hold as much as you think!

I am proud, though

I do have to admit

To say look at her grow

Look at her go

Even after all this shit

That’s my little sister!

Yes, that is the both of you, of course

And as time goes on

And we continue to live

I hope you come to realize

The past becomes a nightmare we can forgive

It led us to our dreams, goals and our new lives

It led us to be good people

Eventually, it will lead us to be great mothers and wives

I hope you accept your scars

And see the beauty that lies beneath

Just as a flower, you deserve and will grow and break free

No matter which way you go

I hope you always know

You are everything to me

No, I’m not your mom

I’m definitely not your dad

But I am your big sister

The proudest that could be had

And dear little sister

I love you with all my heart

And even one day

When we do sadly have to part

And go our separate ways on the road of life

Remember that when I watched you go

And when I watched you grow

I had pride and envy in my eyes

The day you were born I knew you would make it through all the hurt and all the scars

And I knew that you were born

And put on the earth

To strive to always reach for the stars

And dear little sister

You will never understand

I will do whatever I can to make sure you are happy

No one can replace you

You are one of a kind

You are perfect in every way, although sometimes out of line

You are a gift on this earth

An everyday surprise

And with this, I hope you were able to tell

I love you and all that you do

Love your sister, Alina

Oh the stories we can tell

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
