Being a short girl in a world full of taller people can be annoying to the point of inconvenience. From constantly being referred to as "cute" to having to stand on their tiptoes to reach the top shelf, short girls deal with plenty of struggles.

Standing at 5'1'', I know what it's like to live below the line of average height. Here are some things all short girls can relate to.

1. People assume you're much younger than you actually are

Everyone you meet is amazed that you're not twelve years old, and they make sure you know it. "Wow! You're so small for your age!"

2. You constantly have to roll up your jeans

It's not a fashion trend when you walk outside with cuffed pants--it's a necessity. The only other option is to hem your jeans. Otherwise, the fabric bunches up around your ankles.

3. You're not even that tall when you put on high heels

When you wear high heels, you decide to suffer through the blisters and aching feet to gain a few inches. But in reality, now you're just average height.

4. Your friends make fun of the way you drive

You have to sit really close to the steering wheel in order to reach the pedals. All of your friends know this and refer to you as "grandma".

5. People think it's funny to ask, "How's the weather down there?"

It's literally the exact same. Weather doesn't drastically change a few feet down.

6. You have to jog to keep up with your taller friends when walking beside them

They seem to forget that their legs are twice as long as yours. They walk at a leisurely pace while you work hard to keep up.

7. Concerts are more about hearing and less about seeing

When you're in the middle of a mosh pit, the only thing you can see is the back of the guy in front of you.

8. You're easily lost in the crowd

Walking down crowded streets is a nightmare. People seem to think you're invisible and brush you aside.

9. You climb on top of counters daily in order to reach the top shelf

It's just a part of your daily routine by now. You need to reach that pan on the very top shelf? Up the counter you go.

I'm sure, like me, many of you received lots of gift cards over the holidays. After working retail seasonally, here are a few tips that I learned in order to make the employees at your favorite store just a little happier and not want to charge you extra on your purchase for being awful. Here are some times when you should be nicer to retail workers than you actually are!

5 Untold Struggles Of The Short Friend

I'm the Short Friend. I've been the Short Friend since about the seventh grade. I'm the one who stands in the front of the photos, gets made fun of for their height, and still shops in the kids department.

This article is not for the Almost Short Friends, i.e. the 5'3" and 5'4" Friends. No no, this is for the Actually Short Friends, i.e. the Barely Scraping 5'1" and shorter Short Friends.

11 Things All Call Center Workers Can Empathize With Better Than Anyone

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
