5 Very Real Short Girl Problems

Just a few problems I regularly face.

While there are many benefits to being a short girl, like being able to wear heels and not look super tall and being fun size, there are a lot of problems that us short girls face, and I wanted to share five problems I regularly endure due to my height.

1. Not being able to find pants that are the correct length

One problem I always run into when trying to find pants that fit is that they are either too long if they are a normal length or they are too short when I get the "short" sizing. I normally just buy the normal length and deal with the fact that they are going to scrunch up at the bottom.

2. Never being able to reach anything on the top shelf

I don't even know why I store stuff on the top shelf of cabinets because I have to climb on the counter or attempt to climb up the shelves to reach anything I put there. I normally have to keep a step ladder around so I can reach things that are too high up.

3. Always being picked up whenever someone tall hugs you

Every time I hug someone taller than me, they feel that it is necessary to pick me up and spin me around like I'm a small child. I realize that I'm small and it may be fun for you, but for me, I'm really high up, and I'm afraid you are going to drop me.

4. Having people assume that you are younger than you are because you happen to be small

Recently, I have been told that I look like I am still in high school even though I am turning 21 this week. While being young looking will be nice when I'm older, getting asked my age when going to see a PG-13 movie as a college student is a little annoying and embarrassing.

5. When a strong wind hits you and you fly a few feet

When you are walking outside and a strong gust of wind hits you and you're pretty sure you just flew a few feet from where you were standing.

The life of a short girl isn't easy

While there are many other problems faced by small girls, these are just a few that always seem to happen to me even though I'm 5'3" so I'm not the shortest girl around.

College isn't easy, and I'm afraid I'm not going to make it at the rate my mental health is going.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
