People have a tendency to ignore short films--maybe not on purpose, but they do. Maybe it's because they don't attract well-known actors, or perhaps there's just not enough publicity for them, which is a shame. Short films can take the most complex, bewildering story lines and sum them up in five to ten minutes. Often, short films can be better than any feature-length movie. Here are a few short films that deserve some recognition. If you appreciate storytelling, film, or just creativity and imagination in general, you're going to love these.
1. Room 8
This BAFTA Award Winner of Short Films unravels the story of a prisoner, who learns the meaning of "curiosity killed the cat".
2. Inseparable
Benedict Cumberbatch stars in this heart-wrenching and tragic short about a man who is diagnosed with a terminal illness, and must make a decision that will effect his family for the rest of their lives.
3. Alma
A short film that is void of dialogue but rich in story. It chronicles a young girl who finds a seemingly abandoned toy store down a quiet alleyway, but investigates further when a doll, resembling herself, pops up in the store window.
4. Still Life
A young man is driven crazy by the fact that everybody around him is a mannequin.
5. The Smiling Man
