Downtown Phoenix has prospered greatly over the years. From First Friday to baseball games, it doesn't get any better. What many people don't realize is that some of the best places in Phoenix are hidden right in plain sight. Here are some of my Top 5 places to check out while you're exploring the Downtown Phoenix area.

While they serve coffee, the tea is really what makes Songbird stand out. With a wide selection of tea to fit each customers preferences, everyone easily goes home satisfied. Their tea also comes from straight out of the jar so you know exactly what you're getting when you purchase your tea. Located about a block from ASU's Downtown Campus, Songbird makes for the perfect study spot for ASU students.

Desoto Central Market takes the restaurant feel to a whole new level. With multiple restaurants located within the place, each person is able to find a meal that they prefer rather than having to choose just one type of food everyone can agree on. Not only is Desoto great for a meal, but it's also another great spot for studying and hanging out. The second floor of Desoto is filled with plenty of seating area meant for friends to lounge in and even has a pool table ready for use!

Styled after an old train station, this shop is the best place to hang out at with friends. With the shop being open 24 hours, there's no need to worry about closing hours. Not only does The Grand serve as a Coffee Shop, but it also serves as a restaurant and bar, making it the perfect place for any mood. The Grand is also across from ASU's Downtown Campus which makes it perfect for late night cramming sessions.

If you've ever been to First Friday on Roosevelt Row, odds are you've probably passed this restaurant without any thought. The Dressing Room holds a small, intimate menu that never fails to please it's customers. Standing right next to BE Coffee and The Bosque, you're able to grab a quick bite to eat, sip on some coffee, and peek at some plants once you're content. Along with lunch and dinner food, The Dressing Room also sells all-day breakfast food, keeping the breakfast-for-dinner tradition alive and well.

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
