Shopping On A College Kid Budget

In This Article:

College living is hard. Trying to get that paper in on time, making it to ALL of your classes, AND surviving on a college kid's budget. Sometimes, you have a little extra money to get some new clothes, but you don't want to just spend that hard earned cash frivolously. Here are 5 ways to shop where you can stretch your money and get tons of cool items for cheaper than department store prices.

1. American Eagle

As 'basic' as AE can be, they really do have some good deals. Instead of going in store or shopping the regular items, shop the clearance! They always have tons of adorable tops and shorts and jeans starting at like ten bucks. Plus, their tees are so soft and cozy.

2. Amazon

This is the perfect place to get your odds and ends. The basics, like socks, leggings, and tees, are so easy to find and so cheap. It is perfect for if you need an obscure piece for a themed sorority date night.

3. Target

Obviously… But for real… Target always had such cool and unique pieces perfect for game day or just an easy effortless outfit.

4. Thrifting

This is such a cost effective way to get some adorable (and sometimes vintage) items for your closet. Plus, it is so fun!!

5. Anywhere That Has A Student Discount

Always ask for a student discount at the register or google the shop and find a coupon code for students! There have been so many times that I have saved money just for asking.

So next time you've got some money burning a hole in your pocket, don't go running for the mall. Try these shops and methods to make your money last longer!

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
