Ivory Ella: Saving Elephants One T-Shirt At A Time
Ivory Ella

I'm a big Internet peruser. You'll most likely find me looking at blog after blog and site after site. I'll begin on one site, and suddenly I'll have tons of tabs open and hours have passed. My addictive perusing was stopped one night when I stumbled upon an amazing online store, Ivory Ella. Their retail store sells quality clothing and accessories while raising money for a worthy cause. Within minutes, I had fallen in love with the store. I was so smitten that I just had to ask the owners of such an awesome store for an interview. Luckily for me, they kindly agreed.

Q: "Tell us a little about yourself (where you live, educational, background, career path, etc.)."

A: "Ivory Ella was founded by a group of five college students (John, Jacob, Esma, Ryan, Rich) and a high school business teacher (Matt). John and Rich grew up in Media, Pennsylvania, and attended Temple University, where they met Jacob, a Temple student from York, Pennsylvania. Esma is from New York, Ryan is from Wisconsin, and Matt is from New London, Connecticut. John, Richard and Jacob attended Temple University where John studied communication and Richard and Jacob studied business. Ryan studied business management at Carthage College in Wisconsin, and Esma studied at Suffolk Community College but has committed all of her time to working full time on our business."

Q: "What is Ivory Ella?"

A: "Ivory Ella is an innovative startup company that was formed April 18, 2015, with the goal of creating 'Good Clothes For A Good Cause.' We work hard to provide quality shirts to our loyal customers in an effort to end poaching and save the remaining elephant population roaming the earth. Ivory Ella is an online retail store."

Q: "How did you start Ivory Ella, and what motivates you to continue?"

A: "Our founders leveraged our social media influence as well as our cute design and meaningful mission to ensure Ivory Ella’s launch was memorable. Our customers' passion for our product and mission has made us more determined than ever to succeed and save the elephants."

Q: "What are the biggest challenges you face with running your own clothing line?"

A: "The biggest challenge we’ve faced to date has been scaling our operation to match our sales. It’s been overwhelming. It’s a great problem to have, but the learning curve has forced us to make decisions on the fly. You have to be able embrace change and really thrive in a chaotic environment. In less than four months, we went from operating out of Matt’s basement to running two warehouses with 50 employees."

Q: "What do you love most about Ivory Ella?"

A: "Aside from saving the elephants and seeing our customers' passion and support displayed on a daily basis, we really love our employees and team here at Ivory Ella. One amazing part of working at Ivory Ella is our company culture. We have been able to hire close to 50 employees, a number of whom are high school and college students working their first job. We couldn't be any more happy for being able to provide them with this opportunity. Culture is key, and we believe we are building quite the company culture here at Ivory Ella. We have done fun things such as employee cookouts, plate tossing activities to relieve stress, employee dunk tanks, etc."

Q: "What are your ambitions for Ivory Ella?"

A: "We plan on continuing to grow Ivory Ella until it is a nationally recognizable clothing brand who has made a significant impact on the world. Since our launch, we have noticed a huge trend in new companies being formed with the goal of making a difference. It thrills us to see so many people trying to give back to their communities and the environment. We hope as we grow (that) we continue to show companies that they have a power to make a difference and should be encouraged to help others."

Q: "In your opinion, what makes a clothing line successful?"

A: "Having a true connection with your target market is paramount. You have to reach out to them and really listen to your customers. Give the people what they want. Connect with them! Interact with them! Show them you’re listening and you’re not a faceless profit monster."

Q: "What advice would you give to young entrepreneurs with a new startup idea?"

A: "The key to a startup is not being discouraged by failure. All of our founders at Ivory Ella have failed in the past, but our drive to keep trying to succeed eventually led to what we have formed today. The best advice we can give is the only way to learn is to try."

Ivory Ella has raised over $100,000 for Save the Elephants and continues to raise awareness of elephant poaching. In four short months, their philanthropic actions have impacted hundreds of people. Ivory Ella is much more than a cute T-shirt; they're helping to save one of the world's most beautiful creatures. If you haven't heard of this company, be sure to check them out here. You won't be disappointed. Also be sure to follow them on Twitter and like their Facebook page in order to stay up-to-date on any giveaways or new products.

Ivory Ella, thank you so much for taking the time out for an interview. You guys are amazing. I look forward to all the wonderful things you have in store for us Ivory Ella lovers.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
