I have always been a lover of shopping! Whether it be for food, clothes, or school supplies, shopping is such a fun and relaxing activity, in my opinion. This hobby of mine has taught me so much more than the mere materialism embedded in the practice, and here are the best parts!
1. Responsibility
Shopping has taught me how to be responsible because I have learned to manage my time, money, and schedule by doing it. Having an apartment this year requires me to cook for myself, and taking the time to plan my food shopping lists and complete the shopping has really helped me become more responsible in everyday life.
2. Saving
I love shopping for clothes the most, and this love for shopping has taught me to save my money wisely. I learned from a young age that spending the bulk of my money on a new sweater or pair of jeans is fun but cannot always be a reality. Hence, I have learned to save my money and spend some, creating a feeling of satisfaction in both saving and spending.
3. Having fun
As a type-A, hyper-organized person, I have found a liking in shopping around a schedule and being organized. Yes, of course, I still enjoy spontaneously shopping and sometimes not being as organized. At the same time, I have learned to enjoy being organized and feeling proud of myself in doing so.
4. Being thankful
As much as my purchases have brought me happiness in several different ways, I have learned, that at the end of the day, the best things in life are those that you cannot buy. As a result, I have become a happier person living with simplicity! :)
