This Christmas, I would like to share a poem I wrote back in good old 2011 about how we, who follow the words of Jesus Christ, sometimes miss the point of the holiday season. Here it is, "Shock of the Great Night":
The holidays are here
With many people that bring cheer
Santa is coming tonight
On one wicked cold night
With the cold winds all around
Santa's sleigh came crashing down
Christmas isn't coming this year they all say
As they watched Santa sink down in the bay
They wiped their tears away
When they saw Mary and Joseph wondering astray
Something touched their hearts that night
When they heard that the Lord was born under holy lights
(Pianta).
