A best friend is someone you tell everything to, the person who knows you better than any other, the one you call when you need to rant about something that happened to you or someone or just the one person you NEED to share all your gossip with.

What if that person was your mom.

Imagine getting to your house and being able to spill all the gossip you found out about the girl she knows you don’t like since middle school or telling her about all these hot guys that were at the party you went last night. Let me tell you, is the best thing ever and I’m talking from experience because my mom is my best friend.

Since I was little, I have always been really close with my mom. I love telling her stories of things that happened to me and for some reason, my friends love doing it too—I have come to the conclusion that they actually like her more than they like me—they will go to my house just to tell my mom about their personal lives or even text her. When I’m home we will gossip for hours, know what the other is thinking just by looking at each other, pull all-nighters binge watching our favorite shows, and laugh when someone says something because we know the dirty joke the other now is thinking of.

Just imagine a relationship like the one Lorelai and Rory have on Gilmore Girls, but without the drama. Having someone who thinks like you—and can even look like you in some ways—that you know for sure will be there for you your entire life. No need to worry about having a fight and not speaking again, because at the end of the day she is not only your best friend but also your mother, your family. That is a bond that cannot be broken. And trust me, if your mom is as cool and funny as mine, you won’t have a problem. You will make fun of each other, make each other laugh in very inappropriate situations and will always have something to rant and gossip about.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

mu bucket list

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.
