She's More Than My Aunt

A thank you letter to my aunt, who has always been there for me and never left my side when times got tough.

She's More Than My Aunt

She's more than my aunt. She is my best friend, my Godmother, and my life saver. My Mom knew my Aunt Gina would be an important person in my life and that is why she made her my Godmother. My Aunt is like a mother to me and has helped me through so many things in my life. I can honestly say I would be lost without her. She has been here for me since the day I was born and has loved me unconditionally. I can tell her anything and know she will not judge me, even if something upsets her, she will always listen. We may not get along sometimes and may disagree on some things, but no one's perfect. I wouldn't change my aunt for the world. If I am in a tough spot she is always there to pick me back up and help me out of whatever trouble I may be in.

Every summer my sister Kalei and I would fly from Florida to Massachusetts to stay with you, and you welcomed us with open arms. We loved coming to your house for the summer because there were no worries for us. You took care of everything and provided us with what we needed and wanted. We always went on a lot of trips some include, Disney, Cape Cod, Old Orchard Beach, York Beach, Multiple Zoos and Aquariums. Also many day trips to Hampton and Salisbury Beach. Without you, we would not have been able to experience so many different things. In Florida, things were tough most of the time because money was extremely tight. Sometimes we had to go to the church food bank to get groceries for the week, which required taking three trolleys. We would go to the public library to cool off because we did not have an air conditioner in our house. But at Aunties house we had no worries, we always knew dinner would be on the table at night and food would be in the fridge. The air conditioner was on during the day and we could come inside after playing outside to cool off. We could go food shopping with you and pick out special snacks, which was always exciting because we usually did not get to do that. We went out to eat sometimes at restaurants, which was really cool because at home going out was the dollar menu at McDonalds. We didn't have to worry about anything but having fun and being kids. You always supplied us with school clothes and anything else we needed at the end of the summer because you knew Mom could not afford it. We always received presents on holidays, and you always tried your hardest to provide us with what we needed and wanted. You made our childhood exciting and fun, we always had the best times with you

Auntie, thank you for everything you have done for me since the day my life started. Thank you for always helping me. Thank you for never leaving my side and always supporting me. Thank you for taking me in when I had nowhere else to go. Life was not easy for me and I needed help. I asked you if I could move in with you and try to turn my life around, you said yes without hesitation. I know it was not easy to take in a teenager and become a mother. You came to my rescue more than you may ever know. I know I would not be where I am today if it was not for you taking me in, loving me unconditionally, and helping me along the way. We have been through hell and back together and have formed a special bond that I truly cherish. I know you are always a phone call away if I ever need you and I thank you for that. You are more than my auntie, you are my everything, and I love you more than you know.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
