Looking back to the shows that I used to watch when I was in high school, I normally smile at all the different shows that I have seen. One show in particular stands out to me. That amazing television series just happens to be "Big Bang Theory."

Why, you may be wondering, does "Big Bang Theory" stick out to me? It may be the fact that the series is full of laughter and jokes. Well, that is true. It is full of laughter, but that is not the reason that I have thought of this show. What about the roller coaster relationship between Penny and Leonard? Wrong again!

What about how the character, Sheldon, is portrayed in the show? Yes! In going through my first semester in college, I have come to understand that Sheldon represents me in more than one aspect of my life. (When you read this, understand that this is all a joke!)

Here's how:

1. Sheldon is sarcastic with his logic.

My friends have been frustrated with me on more than one occasion for my sarcastic remarks. A common phrase that they hear is, "To be technical." Similar to Sheldon's predicament, his friends still chose to stick around and create memories. Unlike Sheldon, I am someone who introduces myself and tries to see if they will take the next step towards friendship.

2. The scientific answer to phrases must be brought up.

Going through high school and college, I have always been a smart student. When someone makes a rhetorical comment or phrase, I tend to have to answer with a rational and strategic reply. I have actually told one of friends this phrase when he said, "Happiness is in the air."

3. Understandably, I know this comment all too well.

Today, a friend of asked if I was insane. I had to tell her with a straight face that if I was insane, that would be a terrible shame. When she asked why, my reply was, "If I was insane and smart, I would be able to hide myself and blend in with the prestigious society before I decided to enact a plan." I am not insane, but her face was priceless when I made that comment. I tend to say the things that make you question my mental capacity.

4. Cats are loyal, and cats do not question intelligence.

I tend to be more attracted to the animals that I see before the people. My Residence Life Coordinator has a dog. Each time I see the dog, I have to pet her. She follows me to my room usually, as well. At home, I have three cats and two dogs that are all loyal, as well. They do not argue with me. They just listen and cherish my company and adoration for them.

5. Hating surprises is the worst. You just have to know everything!

6. When your thought process is spectacular...

I have some of the most random thoughts in my mind. Some of those conversations should actually be heard, but I shall keep them to myself.

7. His morbid ideas are brought up in the show as if they are normal, which is similar to mine.

8. The delivery man trying to be lazy is unacceptable!

9. When coffee is a "gate-way" drug...

Well, coffee was introduced to my life when I was in high school. I told my parents that this will most likely become a major addiction in my life. Now, I drink coffee or hot chocolate every morning. On the weekends, I drink it in the afternoon. If I am not finished with an assignment, I drink coffee at night. The caffeine boost is exponentially glorious.

10. Listen while I explain this complicated game really fast and only once!

11. His awesome memories with friends are proven in photos. Document everything as proof of a wondrous life!

12. Sometimes, sympathy is not in the picture. I can be extremely emotionless without meaning to be.

13. My ideas and Sheldon's ideas shadow one another in understanding.

I hope you laughed. Many of these were jokes.

Good luck, humanity!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

A schedule full of easy pottery throwing and film courses is merely a myth on the average campus. With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.
