She was everything.

But she didn't even know it.

She was the rain. Her aroma was fresh and empowering, and when you immersed yourself in her presence, she drenched you entirely with her thoughts. She made you feel at ease with every touch.

She was the wind. Her voice lingered through your ears & her whispers made the hairs on your arms stand straight. She was everywhere. Lifting you up and taking you far far away, with a single glance. One moment she was there, and the next she wasn't. But even her absence captivated you, making you feel her energy wherever she was.

She was fire. Deadly and courageous. Her screams could set mountians to ash and her eyes were like daggers, yet she used her power to do good. She was strength in his eyes, and with the slightest touch, she could set him on fire. When she set people on fire, she gave them the passion she felt in herself. For she was intimidating, but in the most beautiful way imaginable.

She was the sunshine. She kept you alive, and warmed your skin with her smile. Her touch grew gardens, and her simple being made you happy. She brought strength to the world, by simply waking up. She was unexplainably golden.

She was the moon. She was light when you were darkness. She was strength when you were frozen. She was love when you could only view hate. Her touch mended all things broken, and she spent time in the dark because she found comfort in things she once knew. She wasn't only beautiful, but deep in all ways imaginable. She was strength, and hope for those without any.

She was everything she wanted to be, and she didn't even know it. When she talked her voice alone could inspire a world, and when she breathed she conveyed emotion beyond comparison. She was all anyone could ask for and more, but all she saw was pain. She couldn't look in the mirror and she couldn't glance at the reflection in the window. She felt alone, broken, and too far gone to return. She spoke of forgiveness, of never giving up, of being beautiful in spite of your demons, yet when she was alone at night - she could never forgive herself. All she ever wanted was to be beautiful, and she is, but she doesn't see it, and I don't know if she ever will.

You are beautiful. You are strong. You are the wind, and the rain, and the sun and the moon. You are everything and more. If you can't see that, look closer. The most beautiful thing in the world is pure confidence. We're all her at some point, but we don't have to be. Love yourself, for nobody else's validation matters but your own. Be you, unapologetically.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
