I'm all about female empowerment; taking back control from the patriarchy and all that jazz. One way of doing this is through throwing out the image of what a "typical" female should look like. In today's society, we are more accepting than ever of all body images.
Specifically for women, not shaving their legs, armpits, or any other place speaks to the openness people have to others' choices. There is drastically less judgment and condemnation now as compared to 20 or 30 years ago. That is not to say everything is completely healed between persecuted populations but we have had a large start to a bridge.
Personally, I shave my legs for myself. Some people feel uncomfortable when they have long leg or armpit hair, but it is all a personal preference, as it should be. You can have legs as smooth as a baby's butt at all times, and that's amazing. No one should be told they need to shave or wax or laser their hair off unless they seriously want to.
Sometimes people grow out their leg hair not to make a feminist statement, but because they are lazy and don't mind their hair or don't have a reason they deem "important enough" for them to shave. They don't have a hot date to go on that they need to dress up for. They have been binge watching Netflix instead of going out for drinks. Shaving or waxing depends on the situation; I'm not going to shave my legs if it's winter and I'm wearing jeans all day, every day, and haven't gone out in 2 weeks. Even then, I'll wear jeans to go out in order to avoid the hassle and effort that shaving requires.
Amazing things are happening in our world. Shaved legs or not, everyone should be accepted.
