There is a woman beyond compare,
With a curl or a bend in her short, black hair
A woman who laughs like a rolling wave
Washing over and easing anyone’s pain.
This woman, though short in height,
Wields more strength in her entire might.
This woman smiles brighter,
Shaming the biggest gem in the world.
Her eyes warmer than honey,
Bringing sweet relief in any bittersweet hour
She is the woman that fixed my tears,
When I cried from broken promises, friends, love
She is the woman that took her wing from herself
When mine own was broken, unable to fly
She took her hand and borrowed her inner light and strength
When I had none, during times that seemed dark and frail
She has carried my two siblings and I through this entire life,
Sometimes as Wonder Woman or Batman
No matter what I write
I’ll simply end with this bliss:
‘Happy Mother’s Day’ to my hero and friend for life
A Sharon to a Rose,
No happier name that sounds more right.
