Share The Love, Don't Be The Judge

Be kind to everyone you meet.

People judge people every day. Some don’t think twice about it. Without knowing their story. When they don’t know the person’s life, or what situations they face. Others judge and then feel guilty, but aren’t sure how to change.

People judge others on their looks, clothing choices, age, skin color, sexual orientation, religious beliefs (or lack thereof), and many other factors that shouldn’t determine someone’s worth. Every life is important. People should love one another simply because we are all human. You don’t have to like everyone, but you should be kind.

Maybe we should start noticing the things that should matter.

How they treat people. Are they kind to people they meet?

The way their eyes sparkle when they talk about something they love. What do they love, and how beautiful is that love?

The passion they show when they play a song by their favorite band. Ask them how they discovered the band.

Their dedication to helping others. Swap stories of events you have volunteered at, and if they haven’t, let them know how giving back to the community feels. Don’t pressure them, just inform them.

The happiness that a teenage girl feels when she dyes her hair a color other than her natural shade. Why should it matter to you what color another person's hair is? That's right, it shouldn't. No one bats an eye at greying hair of the elderly.

The joy that is spread in a place of worship, even if it is a different religion than our own. Worship is a beautiful thing.

The emotions as a family is reunited with a loved one who has fought for his or her country and has returned home safely once again. See the beauty in the sacrifices, no matter how big or small.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not perfect. I’m never guilt-free when it comes to being judgmental. I’m not trying to act like I am.

But I do have an open mind. I don’t judge someone for who they love, or try to force my beliefs on others. I’m saying that if people were a bit more compassionate, the world would be a better place. Love everyone, even you don’t like them. Be kind to all people you meet.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

Happy Birthday Cake

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
