There is really no other drama like that of Showtime's hit TV series, "Shameless."
The tenth season, which premiered on November 10, 2019, is our first glimpse into the Gallagher family's lives after Fiona leaves their dysfunctional Chicago home in search of a new life.

Debbie now takes the helm being the head of the household all-the-while raising Franny and buying extravagant things with the $50,000 Fiona left them, only to return them several days after the fact. Carl finally graduates from the Army and as he and Kelly return to Chicago, they see how many times they can have a sex on their road trip home.
Liam takes up a black nationalist lifestyle, dressing in a dashiki and eating African American cuisine under the wing of Veronica. Ian is still in prison, Kevin takes up a male stripper job, Frank is still finding ways to rip off the hospital of Oxycontin and Lip becomes a father to his and Tami's child.
This is an extremely brief look at what shenanigans our "Shameless" crew is up to. We expect nothing less of what each character is doing as this tenth season opens, and ultimately this episode culminates in a quite wholesome moment: the Gallagher family huddle around and admire Lip's newborn son.
Overall, as a longtime "Shameless" fan I was really excited with this tenth season premiere. Once again, we are reminded why we love the Gallagher and Ball families: for their willingness to go to extremes and--whether or not we like to admit it--we can empathize with some of their struggles.
But there seemed to a lack of continuity with how all of these different arcs related to one another. How was Carl and Kelly's sex crusade related to Debbie's faux-retail therapy? What does Liam's newfound pan-African identity fit in to Fiona's departure or Lip's fatherhood? As the episode progresses, we fail to see how all of these arcs meet at the intersection of the final scene.
Finally, "Shameless" season 10 still does not answer the undying question of where this show is going to without Emmy Rossum in the picture. To be fair, it's only episode one, but if the producers of "Shameless" want to take the show in an entirely new direction--dare say even better with Emmy Rossum's absence--then they need to build a new plot as soon as possible.
New episodes of "Shameless" premiere Sundays at 9/8c on Showtime.
