Lessons Learned From The Netflix Series, "Shameless"
TV Guide

Shameless has become a hit on Netflix over the past couple months. It revolves around a dysfunctional family who struggles with alcoholism and poverty. Unlike many other shows that star a family from the middle of the suburbs, this show takes on the role of a family in downtown Chicago. The show, in my opinion, is very interesting, but also gives the viewers many lessons to learn from.

1. Do Not Let Anyone Disrespect You

The Gallaghers are known for not letting people mess with them because they are a family full of strong-hearted people.

2. In the end, your family is always going to be there for you.

Although the Gallaghers have family issues, they always support each other and have each other's back when their other siblings need it.

3. Nobody's Life is Perfect.

Every character in this show has been faced with a multitude of problems, whether it is the Gallagher's or their friends. Everybody deals with struggles whether they are big or small.

4. Appreciate The Little Things While They're There.

Taking time out of your day to appreciate small things in life because it is too hectic to always be worrying.

5. If It Makes You Happy, Then Do It.

People will say something no matter what you do. Do not let people's opinions get in the way of making you happy.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
