One of the many pros to being a foodie is being constantly exposed to new restaurants, cuisines and dishes. Therefore once I got word of Shacktoberfest's menu, I knew I had to check it out...and it didn't disappoint. Don't take my word for it, see for yourself. The exclusive menu ended this Sunday, October 2, 2016, but it'll be back next year!
Be prepared to braid your pigtails, fill your glasses to the brim, and stuff your faces with Bavarian goodness.
That is the exact experience that comes to mind when we hear Oktoberfest. However this year, Shake Shack is bringing a whole new twist to that meaning with its 11th annual Shacktoberfest.
Think burger meets sausage, better yet...burger meets bratwurst, that's what you're getting yourself into when you order the Brat burger. For those who have yet to be introduced to the mouthwatering goodness, a bratwurst is a German sausage generally made from veal, pork, or beef. Shake Shack mastered this dish by bringing together a hamburger topped with a flat-top griddled Usinger’s cheddar-stuffed bratwurst, crispy ShackMeister Ale-marinated shallots and ShackSauce.
To settle my palate between such savory flavors, I sat back with my Shake Shack Bier Stein filled with a malty Oktoberfest brew from Brooklyn's Brewery. The best part of it is, once you've downed your brew, you get to keep the glass and come back for refills at a reduced price.
With Bavarian spirit in the air, I couldn't miss out on the opportunity to take a bite out of the menu's toasted soft pretzel rolled in bavarian spices.
To end the night on a sweeter note, I ordered the Apfelstrudel Shake. This tongue-twister dessert was like biting into an apple strudel itself.
To say the least, if you didn't make it out to Shaktoberfest before it ended this Sunday, you did yourself a great disservice.
