How selling bedroom products empowers women.

"Hello, I'm Bree Carey and I sell sex toys."

This is not how I usually introduce myself, mostly because it would scare people too much. I have been nervous about sharing this part of my life with the world since I started working for Pure Romance in August, but I have decided that I don't want to feel embarrassed anymore.

I think Pure Romance is a lot more than giggling with a group of women over a box of vibrators while we taste flavored lube.

Pure Romance is a company that empowers women in every aspect of it's business.

The founder of Pure Romance who runs the company is a strong woman who started with just a dream.

Every Pure Romance consultant is a woman running her own business. Together they form sisterhoods and build lasting relationships of helping each other in a way women don't usually do.

Pure Romance parties are only for women. This isn't to be mean to the men; instead, it is to make all of the girls more comfortable asking questions about their bodies.

Pure Romance educates all of their consultants about sex. I read pages and pages and took multiple quizzes before I could start selling. Did you know that there are six types of female sexual dysfunction? Did you know there was female sexual dysfunction? Probably not, because it isn't something women get to talk about so when you experience it, you feel like it is your fault. I can now teach women what is happening in their bodies and help them to overcome it.

We are taking back the V-word. We are trying to even the playing field between men and women. If men can get together and talk about their genitals then women can, too!

And I am making women happy. I am putting a big smile (or an O!) on their face by selling my products. I ask my friends "When was the last time you had an orgasm, like, a really good one?" because I think pleasing yourself sexually is a huge part of accepting your body and loving yourself. How can you expect a lover to please you if you can't please yourself?

I am proud to sell sex toys. I am proud to stand in front of a group of women and talk with them about their bodies. I am proud to help girls understand how their own bodies work and how to begin to appreciate them through self-love. I am proud to talk about vaginas because they should be talked about way more than they are. I am proud that I can enhance the relationships between partners on a regular basis.

And I get to talk about private parts (and get paid for it).

If you think what I am doing is cool and empowers women, tell me in the comments or message me. I want to know what you think about this. If you think you would be interested in having a girls night with me, let me know and we can set something up. If you think you want to make money the way I do, tell me right now because I want you to find the same sexual freedom and empowerment that I have found through Pure Romance.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Whether you're commuting or dorming, your first year of college is a huge adjustment. The transition from living with parents to being on my own was an experience I couldn't have even imagined- both a good and a bad thing. Here's a personal archive of a few of the things I learned after going away for the first time.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
