As a fan of all things television, it's great to explore different types of show. However, it's incredibly difficult to commit and finish an entire completed series.
The few TV series that have been completed, have had at least 4 seasons, and that I watched all of the episodes are:
"Breaking Bad"
"Avatar: The Last Airbender"
"The Legend of Korra"
"Louie" (this was before Louis C.K. got exposed unfortunately and I was devastated)
"Maron" (Marc Maron's IFC show based off his life as a podcaster)
and "Sex and The City"
Yes, Sex and The City.
Mr. Big is the most prominent male character
Think of him as the Edward Rochester or Mr. Darcy of the series: Tall, dark, handsome, a little brooding but charming and charismatic. The fact that his real name is never mentioned until the finale adds to his character's mystique.
His introductory is an outdated reference but fitting for that time: The next Donald Trump.
And by that, they meant: The epitome of success and triumph in the Big Apple.
With Mr. Big's name a secret until the finale, I had an idea for what his real name could be that I loved:
Benjamin Issac Graham.
B.I.G.
Why a name that makes his nickname an anagram?
Because like Edward Rochester, Mr. Darcy and even The Beast from "Beauty and The Beast", they weren't just characters, they were puzzles, mysteries, and obstacles. They guarded secrets and sensitives men usually hid that the clever female counterpart found a way to unlock.
Ben Isaac Graham had (or any BIG anagram) had to be the revealed name.
So it was to my disappointment that the series finale finally revealed his name on Carrie's cell phone as: "John."
And in the movie, they revealed his full name as John James Preston.
JJP.
Obviously, I was disappointed because the mystery of "Sex and The City's" most elusive character was gone. But as time went on I realize that most of that series is about the reality of relationships and the people in them.
Mr. Big may seem like a Victorian romance character from Carrie's point of view, but behind the scenes, he's just as regular of a guy as I am.
But I think we can all admit that Mr. Big being Ben Issac Graham would've been pretty clever.
