Seven Ways to Combat Stress and Get Rid of Negative Thoughts

Stress can be a difficult thing to cope with. It is natural to feel stressed when we are presented with new challenges in life. However, some people experience stress more often or in a more intense way than others. Even though stress is not always a positive thing, it is almost inevitable as part of life. Stress has both positive and negative effects on our bodies and minds. When stress triggers the fight-or-flight response, it can be beneficial because it readies us to face an imminent threat and reduces our risk of danger by increasing the flow of blood sugar and releasing energy stores in the form of adrenaline. However, if we remain in that activated state for too long, stress begins to have a negative effect on our bodies and minds. Research shows that prolonged exposure to stress hormones can wreak havoc on our immune system, increase blood pressure and cholesterol levels, cause inflammation, slow our digestion, raise blood sugar levels (leading to insulin resistance), and even shrink our hippocampus (the area of the brain responsible for memory).

Identify the source of stress

The first step in combatting stress is to identify the source. Is it a demanding job? Busy home life? Health issues? Relationship problems? or may be long usage of Social media like Facebook, GB WhatsApp, Instagram etc, Identifying the source of your stress will help you to be more aware of how it affects you and what you can do to combat it. Knowing when you are stressed will help you to identify when it is happening. This will help you to take steps to reduce its impact on your life.

Take time to relax and recharge

Stress can cause many physical and mental issues. To reduce the risk of these occurring, you should take time out to relax and recharge. This doesn’t mean doing nothing, but rather focusing on activities that bring you joy, help you to manage your stress, and promote a sense of relaxation. One of the best ways to combat stress is to practice meditation. Meditation has been shown to produce a wide range of beneficial effects on the mental and physical health of those who practice it regularly. Another way to relax and recharge is to practice mindfulness. Mindfulness is a way of paying attention to and accepting the present moment. It can be used in many different contexts—from meditation to yoga to simply spending time in nature.

Exercise for stress relief

Physical activity is a great way to reduce stress and improve your overall health. Exercise can help to boost your immune system, reduce anxiety and depression, improve your sleep, regulate blood sugar, and lower your risk of chronic diseases like heart disease and type 2 diabetes. If you are new to exercise, start with 10 minutes per day. This can be regular walking, jogging, or other low-impact exercise. As you get used to the routine, you can increase the amount of time you exercise and push your limits. There are many forms of exercise that are great for reducing stress, such as yoga, tai chi, strength training, swimming, etc.

Help others for stress relief

Helping others is one of the best ways to combat stress. You can volunteer your time or talents to those who are less fortunate or to organizations that you care about. Helping others can help you to put your own problems into perspective and realize that you have it pretty good. This can help you to let go of some of the stress that you are holding onto.

Write down your thoughts and feelings

Rather than trying to ignore or suppress your emotions, try to acknowledge and understand them. This can help to reduce the impact that they have on you. To reduce stress, try keeping a journal and writing down your feelings. Journaling is a great way to release your emotions and feel better about yourself. You can use this as a therapeutic tool, to express what you are feeling and what is going on in your life. Journaling can be a great way to reduce stress and help you to cope when you are dealing with emotional challenges in life. Studies have shown that journaling can help to reduce stress, improve mental health, boost self-esteem, and improve your quality of life.

Learn to forgive yourself and others

When you experience a stressful event in life, it is natural to feel angry, upset, or sad about it. This is a healthy reaction to an unfortunate event. However, some people continue to hold onto this negative emotion, dwelling on it and letting it consume their life. Forgiveness is a process that involves understanding the situation, letting go of your negative emotions (such as anger and sadness), and letting go of any desire for revenge. When you forgive someone, you are not letting them off the hook or letting them get away with what they’ve done in your real life and social life in Facebook, Aero WhatsApp. You are letting go of the anger, sadness, and frustration that they’ve caused you, and allowing yourself to move on with your life.

Conclusion

Stress is a normal part of life, but it can be harmful to your health if it’s not managed properly. To combat stress, you should identify the source of your stress, take time to relax and recharge, exercise for stress relief, help others for stress relief, write down your thoughts and feelings, and learn to forgive yourself and others.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
