In a world where dressing to look good for a boss, a date, or just to get that wonderfully addictive feeling of being invincible when looking great, it is important to take note of what you wear. Here are some tips to help avoid those dreaded fashion flops.

1. Sweatpants are a big "No!"

Sorry for yelling this at you, but I feel the need to stress the fact that sweatpants are looked upon as lazy. While it is perfect for those people who pull "all-nighters" in college, it's an eyesore to the rest of us. Believe me, I have been in the "wears sweatpants in public" club, but being in college means being an adult, and adults don't wear sweatpants anywhere except in the comfort of their own homes.

2. Polos are always welcome.

T-shirts are acceptable for casual days but polos are considered a step up in the realm of class when trying to look snazzy.

3. Socks and Sandals... is that a thing?

I was never an athlete, but even I have talked to athletes and some of them have wondered who in the world thought it was a good idea to wear socks and sandals together. So please, don't. Close toed shoes with socks are great. Sandals only in the summer or only in your dreams.

4. Sweaters and cardigans vs. hoodies.

This is a tough battle to win. Hoodies are great, especially for cold weather since they are perfect for those quiet days in. Cardigans look great with a polo or nice shirt. Sweaters, whether they be festive or otherwise, are nice. Wearing hoodies to slightly more toned up events is really frowned upon however and is something a lot of people should note.

5. Khakis, the best defense against bad fashion.

It's true. Khakis immediately add a nice formal look when you are aiming for one. Wearing khakis to interviews is expected in society now at days. People are not going to hire you if you don't look like you can dress yourself in the morning. Khakis comes in all waist sizes and they look great with all colors of dress shirts, polo's and button ups.

6. Use the power of the button up.

What sets apart the fashionable from the unfashionable? Button ups. Whether they be dress shirts, polo's or short sleeved button up's, the ability to wear one and wear it well really shows how capable a dresser you are.

7. Good style costs money.

Hate to say it; we're all on a budget. But even a budget has to be pushed aside for the cost of looking good. It's understandable that we want to save when shopping so hitting stores like Express Men (buy off season) Rue 21, Forever 21, and American Eagle are all good places for buying on a budget.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
