While we all know about the “pink tax” on tampons, there are many more expenses placed on many more things in the women’s section compared to the men’s section. Body Care? You could probably put that money towards a down payment on a car. Clothing? You might as well see if you qualify for another Pell Grant. Here are 10 things to buy when ballin’ on a budget is the only way you ball at all:
1. Oversized Sweaters
Two Words. Old. Navy. Three more words. Constant. Promo. Codes. No sweater will run you more than 50, and the near constant number of discount the store cycles through is enough to make you want to buy one in every color.2. Flannels
LL Bean is the place to go for everything flannel related. They are actually thick—whoa, what a concept, Forever 21—and last more than a season. Go ahead, buy one or four.
3. Deodorant
A two pack of Men’s Degree deodorant costs LESS THAN and COMES WITH MORE PRODUCT than its female counterpart. Maybe the women’s packaging is so small because our wrists are so delicate—we couldn’t possibly handle 3 oz. of product
compared to 2.6.
4. Primer
Goodbye, $36, 1 oz. Smashbox Primer. Hello, seven dollar, 3.3 oz Nivea Post Shave Balm. The overwhelming reviews can’t be wrong, and even if they are seven dollars doesn’t hurt nearly as much as 36.5. T-Shirts
A five pack of men’s t-shirts at ASOS is $41. A two pack of women’s t-shirts is $30. It’s simple math, here, kids.
6. Button Downs
Get the boyfriend shirt look without the Top Shop cringe-worthy price.
7. (Certain) Shoes
This is double sided: first, most shoe companies only go to size 10 in women’s. Yet the same style shoe in the men’s section won’t only be available in more sizes, it’ll most likely be significantly cheaper. Some examples would be Birkenstock, Adidas, UGG and Rainbow Sandals.
