Seven Reasons to Fall in Love with Fall

Seven Reasons to Fall in Love with Fall

For so many reasons, Fall is my favorite season. It's what I look forward to after an excessively hot summer in South Louisiana. There are so many reasons to fall in love with the season, but to only name a few, here are my top seven reasons.

1. Nature.

The long awaited Pumpkin Spice latte's are back at Starbucks, pumpkin spice scented air fresheners are stocked on Walmart's shelves, and pumpkin puree is back and more expensive each year. You stock up for the season and pray and hope that your supply will never run out. Nothing will ever come in between you and your pumpkin spice latte...Nothing.

3. The weather.

Everyone in South Louisiana longs for the days when the humidity will no longer near 100%. Even the slightest drop of temperature with a subtle breeze is taken as a gift from above.

4. Style.

Every girl's outfits are on point during Fall/Winter. It's time to drag out the leggings, boots, and scarves, and we simply can't wait. We even manage to look semi-cute on those rainy, cold, dreary days that may come our way. With every Fall there's a new "look". Although it hasn't changed much in recent years, it's always exciting when you start to see this year's Fall lines out in stores.

5. The holidays.

Once Fall comes around, the Holidays are just around the corner. In just four short months, we go through Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's and Mardi Gras. Louisiana never has a dull moment and come Fall, the holidays are in full swing.

6. EXTRA HOUR OF SLEEP.

The date to look out for this year is Sunday November 1st, 2015. When you wake up you'll feel extra refreshed since you've gained an hour of sleep. The days get shorter and it gets dark earlier. This, indeed, is a glorious time.

7. Fall = Football.

It's no secret that football season is everyone in Louisiana's favorite season. We count down the days until the season begins, have special rituals and little superstitions, and we start tailgating more than 24 hours before the start of the game. Our weekends revolve around the game schedules (Friday Night- high school, Saturday Night- College, Sundays- NFL). You don't know what community is until you're in a restaurant after church, screaming at the top of your lungs, and hugging strangers after touchdowns. Football brings everyone together. Win or lose, we are all in it together.

Although Fall doesn't officially begin until September 23, football season and Pumpkin Spice season are already in full swing.

10 Truths About Being In A Sorority

(For Girls Who Are Interested In Greek Life)

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
