Seven Reasons To Thank Your Big

1. She taught you how to be a sorority woman. Joining a chapter can be a mix of excitement and terror because you are about to set foot into the unknown. Just as your parents taught you how to function in society, your big shows you the norms of being a sorority woman. She will be there to help you grow into the classy lady you are and branch out in this new environment. She will answer all of your questions so you don't have to be the new member who constantly posts on the chapter Facebook page asking for help.

2. You have a partner in crime. No matter what you want to do, you have someone to do it with. Whether it is a community service project, catching up on a TV show, or you just want to get dollar scoop ice cream, your big will be there to accompany you. Maybe dancing around on raised surfaces is more your thing, in which case, she will probably be right next to you -- or helping you down.

3. She has all the answers. Transitioning to college can be difficult, but your big is your older and wiser mentor. Even if she hasn't personally gone to that club or event you want to attend, she probably knows someone who has and can help you out! If you are lucky, she may even be able to tutor you in that class you are struggling with.

4. She is on your side. She will always be there to listen to you and talk things out. Even if you are wrong, she will defend you and support whatever you do -- which is a very underrated trait in my opinion.

5. She is your big for life. Eventually, you will reach that point in college when your big graduates -- a.k.a. the worst day of your life. Luckily, I can tell you from personal experience that she will be there for you long after she is gone, no matter what separates you. My sorority's house mom had weekly phone conversations with her big and her little, up until the day she died.

6. She loves you. We all have our extremely unlovable days, but especially then, your big loves you. Everything you accomplish excites her. She loves making crafts for you even if crafting isn't her thing, and she is one of the best friends you could possibly have because you are, basically, her child.

7. She has taken you under her wing. Who knows where we would be without our bigs? And that is part of what makes them so special. As littles, we are so obsessed with our bigs, and look up to them, so it helps that they adore us, too!

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).

No matter how long your class is, there's always time for the mind to wander. Much like taking a shower or trying to fall asleep, sitting in a classroom can be a time when you get some of your best ideas. But, more than likely, you're probably just trying to mentally cope with listening to a boring lecturer drone on and on. Perhaps some of the following Aristotle-esque thoughts have popped into your head during class.

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.
