Seven Reasons

Why you should never give up.

Seven Reasons
Marisa Salazar

I know where you are right now. You feel like there is no hope in this world. You feel worthless, disgusting, and used. You feel like you will not live up to anyone else's standards; and honey, that is right, the only standards you can live up to are your own. Here are seven reasons why you should never give up:

1) You deserve someone who actually sees your worth.

People are rude. Girls are brats. Boys are d***s. But that does not mean that they are always that way. There are millions of people who want your attention and millions of people who will adore you.

2) You were given rights, so use them.

You were born into this world, so make everyday count. You are not promised tomorrow, you are only promised the breath you take. You have human rights, you have the right to freedom, and you have the right to be yourself. If people do not like that, then so what.

3) You are more than a “piece of meat.”

In today’s world, it seems like everything is a booty-call. If you are into that sort of thing and your partner is too, then so be it. But if you do not like that activity and you still do it, then why are you doing it? You do not need to do anything you don’t want to do in fear of rejection from the opposite sex.

4) You have a reason on this earth that will make a difference to someone.

Believe it or not, you have the power to change someone’s life, whether it be good or bad. You may come across someone who needs you in their life to show them exactly what you are trying to find.

5) Someone will come along and show you that love takes multiple forms.

This can be discovered through friends, pets, family, you never know. Love is not just a guy and a gal, it takes place in millions of forms. Love the people you have and keep your heart open to new people who need it.

6) You can be missing the chance of a lifetime.

When you settle, you could be missing an opportunity. It can be traveling, meeting a person you need in your life, or a dream job. When you settle, you feel like you are stuck and can never leave... you can.

7) Life may seem hard, but the shining road is ahead.

Life is hard, there should seriously be a handbook for it. That being said, look at how many other things you thought you would never overcome. Look at how far you have come! Place your hand over your heart, that thump you feel is the shining road ahead. As long as your heart is beating, there is always a promise for a shiny new day.

The only person that can make you happy is you. You are the creator of your story so make it a good one and place the negative behind. You are the star of the movie

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
