What's really in a new year? Sure, we can resolve to lose 10 (or 20 or 30 or 40 or 50) pounds, stop procrastinating, and start reading actual books. But let's be real. We'll probably do none of that. With 2017 looming around the corner, there's one thing to truly be excited about: Cinema. There are going to be some awesome movies coming out in 2017, so grab some popcorn and settle in for this juicy list.
1. Hidden Figures (January 2017)
This instant classic is based on the true story of three African-American women who were the brains behind sending NASA astronaut John Glenn into orbit. Their contribution restored the nation's confidence and turned around the Space Race. Oh yeah, did I mention that this movie was about three African-American women doing amazingly awesome things IN THE 1950'S? Gotta love it.
2. Gold (January 2017)
Gold stars Matthew McConaughey as a failing businessman who is looking for a lucky break. In an act of desperation, McConaughey's character ends up teaming up with a geologist to find a gold mother lode in the Indonesian jungle. This movie looks like it will be alright, alright, alright.
3. The Great Wall (February 2017)
Matt Damon is at it again. This time he's not on Mars, but in China fighting some mysterious creatures. The premise of this film is that the Chinese built the great wall to fend off mysterious, antagonistic creatures. Matt Damon plays a mercenary captured by the Chinese who must now fight to save humanity. Crazy man. Just crazy.
4. Logan (March 2017)
This movie is a sequel of the Wolverine movie that came out in 2013. And I mean, X-Men, Wolverine, Hugh Jackman. You get the picture. Gonna be LIT.
5. The Case For Christ (April 2017)
This movie is based off of the must-read book that shares the same title. The movie (like the book) follows journalist and atheist Lee Strobel as he comes to faith after being assigned a piece to prove Southern Christians as backwoods and cult-ish.6. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (May 2017)
It's going to be siiiiiiiiiiiiiiick. The new trailer just dropped too! Gotta give Star Lord some respect.
7. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (May 2017)
Johnny Depp returns as Captain Jack Sparrow. Prepare yourselves for the bombardment of "can't even's."
