7 Confessions Of A Lazy Girl

Actually, I prefer the term "energy-saving."

7 Confessions Of A Lazy Girl
The Cut

Let me start off by saying that I'm only a part-time lazy girl. Sometimes I really do get my act together and get things done not only on time, but early. I can be somewhat organized when I put my mind to it, and once I get myself moving, I can be pretty productive. But there are many (and I mean many) moments when my inner laziness completely takes over, and my procrastination doesn't help, either. Here are some of those moments.

1. Sleep

Ask my family. Ask my boyfriend. I like to sleep. "Snooze" is my best friend every morning. And boy, do I like summer! More time for naps? Count me in! In fact, I just took one! However, I do feel bad for my boyfriend, because having an at-home movie night usually means him watching a movie while I'm passed out on the couch. But hey, I work and I'm preparing myself for the exhausting new world known as "college." I deserve to shut my eyes every once in while.

2. Do I have to look nice today?

Nah. I mean, maybe I do, but there's always tomorrow. Now, if it's one of those days where I actually do find the motivation to slap on some eyeliner and mascara and curl my hair, I will admit that I feel quite accomplished. You see, the problem is that all this preparation requires more time in the morning (refer to #1).

3. Having an empty closet

I'm actually quite proud of myself, because unlike many teenagers, I don't have piles of dirty laundry all over my room. I just have piles of clean clothes! Why hang up all your clothes when you're just going to continue wearing them? Keep them folded (somewhat) and they'll be right at your fingertips, ready to be worn without the hassle of opening and closing those closet doors.

4. Hair straighteners=iron

Yes, I've done this before. If your clothes are wrinkled, possibly due to the situation stated above, your hair straightener can be used to press those wrinkles right out. No need to drag out that heavy ironing board! I'm half-proud and half-ashamed, but it actually works. Just be careful that you don't set your clothes on fire.

5. Sweatpants: from your bed to your school

We've all done it, so don't even try to say that you haven't. It's one of the best time savers ever, but it really only works in the winter because wearing sweatpants to bed during the summer months would just be brutal. As you fall asleep in your favorite sweatpants, sports bra, and t-shirt, you can rest peacefully knowing that you're already dressed for tomorrow.

6. Breakfast on-the-go

I eat in my car all the time. Breakfast, though, seems to be my favorite on-the-go meal, especially on those early school mornings. A water bottle, granola bar, and even a bag of dry cereal were common items found in my car, and it saved me a few extra minutes of sleep in the morning.

7. Forgetting to respond to texts and emails

I do this a lot, and I apologize to anyone who I have done this to (sorry, Jake!). I usually remember a few minutes later that my phone had gone off, but then I also remember how far away it is, so that explains everything.

We lazy girls are really something else, and I'm sure there are more of these confessions out there! So if any of these sound familiar to you, please know that you're not alone! Now, if you excuse me, it's time for a nap.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

Find excitement in your life and start exploring wherever you are right here, right now.

mu bucket list

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

Kent State University
Great Value Colleges

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.
