Serengetee: The Brand Designed For The Young Traveler
Cassidy Graham

This past semester I have been blessed with the opportunity to become a Campus Representative for the brand Serengetee. Serengetee is a clothing company and brand with comfortable and cool clothes and other items that are geared towards the young traveler. Each shirt, backpack and hat is designed with fabrics from countries around the world, and each fabric represents a community to which proceeds from each sale go directly to the artisans that made them.

The company was created back in 2012 after company creators Jeff and Ryan met on a Semester at Sea (a study abroad program that circumnavigates the globe by ship). While traveling they began visiting markets from around the world and became intrigued with the different styles of fabrics from each country. Soon they began collecting fabrics from countries in Africa, Asia, and Central America.

They wanted to find a way to use these fabrics to make a positive change in the world, as well as encourage young travelers to go out and see the world. So with zero fashion experience, they began cutting, sewing and shipping pocket tees right out of their dorm room.

But the coolest thing about Serengetee is the mission. “By purchasing fabric from over 25 countries, [they] support artisans, their families, and ancient fabric-making traditions”. And with each purchase, 10 percent of their profit is given back to a diverse range of grassroots causes, consequently improving lives in those communities. Each fabric has a story behind it and customers can read about each one and where it came from right on the Serengetee website!

I am so blessed to be able to represent such an amazing company behind such an amazing cause. And also one with such amazing products! I currently own way too many Serengetee t-shirts and already want more. On their site, you are given the options of t-shirts, tank tops, crew sweaters, crop sweaters, hats, backpacks, flags and so much more. First, pick the style of clothing or product you want and then select the color and fabric! But honestly be careful, because you will spend hours trying to find the perfect color/pocket combination. Or if pocket tees aren’t your thing, check out the Elephant Shop! You can find the Elephant Shop tab on the left side of the website and it includes the amazing Travel More t-shirts you have probably seen plastered all over the internet. This is also where you’ll find more items like koozies, Frisbees, flags and other Travel More gear. Also before you check out don’t forget to use the code: Read15 for an extra 15 percent off all your items!

With each purchase you will receive your awesome Serengetee gear as well as the iconic Travel More and Wear the World stickers to help you rep Serengetee wherever you go! When you receive your package don’t forget to post your cool, new stuff on Instagram or Facebook and tag Serengetee for the chance to be featured on their page. Now go out there and wear the world!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
