Now You See Me 2 (In Theatres)

Magic is in the air with this exciting sequel to the 2013 “Now You See Me” that kept everybody watching on their toes! The Four Horseman are back and up to some new tricks in order to clear their names, yet again, this time from taking the fall for a tech genius who is doing unethical work. Most of the Horseman return as well as Morgan Freeman, but there is a new face that is causing quite a buzz and that’s Mr. Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe.

A lot of info about this movie has been kept under wraps and rightfully so if the same shock factor of the last one is to be kept. If you haven’t seen the first one, you’re doing yourself a disservice since the movie is absolutely amazing. I, too, was reluctant in seeing the first one but after sitting down and watching it, the tricks and the amazing acting mesmerized me. Not to mention, to avoid confusion, it’d be a good idea to see the first before you see this one. Treat yourself and go see this film when you can because it is sure to leave everyone talking like the last one did.

Finding Dory (June 17th)

I’m going to be honest, after around 6 years of waiting for a sequel to 2003’s "Finding Nemo," I was convinced that the reuniting of Marlin and Nemo was the last I was going to see of the beloved fish gang. But low and behold, 13 years later, IT’S FINALLY HERE! This time the focus was on Dory. We follow her around as she attempts to regain her memory and figure out the life she lost. Along the way we meet tons of new memorable characters and get to see some of our old friends that we fell in love with back in our childhood days.

I can’t begin to express the excitement for this movie. “Finding Nemo” became an instant Pixar classic and anytime we are gifted with a sequel from Pixar it’s going to be great! I have no reservations for this movie. It’ll be a wholehearted good time for anyone of any age. After 13 years, I would assume most people have seen “Finding Nemo” and everyone remembers that heart wrenching opening within the first 10 minutes (thanks Pixar), but in good fun, maybe watch it again sometime beforehand. So get ready folks because I’ll be front row to relive my childhood. Will you?

Central Intelligence (June 17th)

Don’t be fooled by the serious sounding name, this movie is guaranteed to leave you in stitches! This film centers around request of bullied nerd now turned CIA agent, The Rock, for help in a case from the big man on campus who stood up for him now turned accountant, Kevin Hart. From here the two attempt to bust bad guys all while Hart tries not to be killed in the process.

Other than a few videos of The Rock and Hart joking and trailers posted, this movie been kind of quiet. But given that the videos themselves are hilarious and unscripted, I can only imagine how funny it’ll be when the two are actually trying to get laughs. This movie will be a nice change from the string of sequels or remakes that are popping up this summer. So head on down to the movies and get ready to leave crying from laughing so hard at this odd yet awesome duo.

Independence Day: Resurgence (June 24th)

Imagine the long anticipated wait of “Finding Dory”…now add 7 years to that, Voila you have the long anticipated 20 year wait of the sequel to the chilling “Independence day.” Don’t worry, you read right, it's been 20 years since the first movie came out in 1996 leaving us chilled to the bone of an alien invasion. Twenty years has also passed in the movie as we come to the anniversary of the invasion, then everything goes to Hell. The aliens that invaded the first time are back, not too happy, and they brought tons of friends with them. The humans are without hope as even with the technology utilized from the ships after the first invasion posses no threat to the massive army with 20 years advanced technology to what the humans considered "advanced." Will earth be able to withstand the invasion or will all that we know perish?

Even from looking at the picture, this movie looks breathtaking with new CGI that brings the war to a whole new level. We might even get to see Will Smith reprise his role in the face of imminent death so fingers crossed. Overall this movie is going to be a real thriller that will leave you wanting more!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?
