Dear All Of Mankind,
I feel like when a lot of people think about sensitivity, they think about people who get offended easily, and violently defend their passions as well as topics they strongly believe in. However, many of you reading this probably also know that there is a completely different side to sensitivity. Let me introduce you formally to the other side of sensitivity.
The sensitivity I'm talking about is the kind of sensitivity is the kind of sensitivity where you lay awake at night thinking about what you could have done better.
If you get reprimanded at work or at school, you constantly think about it for the rest of the day.
If your friends call you a name jokingly, but it still makes you feel bad about yourself, you will always think about how crappy it made you feel.
If you tell a lie, It honestly haunts you for a really long time.
If you don't meet your expectations, you literally feel so disappointed in yourself.
You also probably do not have many close relationships, because you are so sensitive, and you do not want to risk letting someone in, and getting hurt, so you end up pushing a lot of people away out of your own irrational fear.
So next time you meet someone who says they are sensitive, it may not be in the way you initially think. It may just be that this person, literally overthinks everything until the point of steam billows out of their ears. That can be a very heavy weight on someone and their well-being, so if you see someone or meet someone like that, reach out to them and say "HEY! IT'S NOT THAT DEEP!"
Sincerely,
A Fellow Sensitive Person
