Seniors, It's Our Last Month, Let's Make It Count

Senior year has always been a roller coaster of emotions for every 18-year old. Sure, it may be a different experience for everyone, but there is one thing we all know, which is that we are all ready to graduate and move on with our lives. There have been so many memories made over the last four years, let's make these last ones our best ones.

Think about all of the amazing memories we are about to make, from prom to graduation, there are so many things to look forward to for the rest of our high school careers, we don't want it to go by fast. I know we all want to go on Senior week but let's take everything one step at a time, starting with enjoying our prom. Next, focus on graduation, senior week and then finally, our favorite part: college!

Many of us lack motivation for the end of the year. It is a lot to process and we all are just wanting to get out of the cement building we spend 7 hours in 5 days a week. Memories we have made in these buildings are important though, they have shaped us to be who we are today, we were in high school during the most important time of our lives, it shaped us to be who we are today, the people we have met, the teachers we had, all of these factors have made us and shaped us into who we will be in college and the people we may attract. None of us want high school to follow us, we want to start anew and make new friends, but remember that the people who shaped you in high school will show you the type of people you may be friends with in college.

Overall, never forget all the memories we have made in high school, whether they are good or bad, they have taught us valuable lessons and will allow us to prosper and learn from our mistakes. Now, let's make this last month our best month! We are in the homestretch of one of the most important years of our lives!

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
