My Senior Year Vows

The year of lasts.

My Senior Year Vows

With senior year quickly approaching, I look back at my last three years of college and reminisce on all the memories and friendships I've made along the way. Its hard to imagine that these next 12 months will be filled with "lasts"—last recruitment, last homecoming, last formal. As I enter this chapter in my life, I make a vow to not only embrace the "lasts" that are ahead of me, but to also create more "firsts."

1. I vow to do things I've never done. As a rising senior, I've become accustomed to my routine here in college. I have my favorite places to eat, my go-to bars, and my awesome group of friends. This year, I vow to mix things up and try new things. It's the year to cross things off the old bucket list I've had sitting in between the rubbish on my desk. Whether it's going to the bar that none of my friends have wanted to go to, joining a club that I've always been secretly interested in, or wearing that not so classy halloween costume, this is the year to do it. If not now, then when? I doubt there will be a day to dress up like a sexy cat in the office.

2. I vow to plan an unforgettable spring break. As my last spring break stands before me, I plan to make it the best spring break yet. Whether its a road trip, a cruise, or to a trip to a different country, I plan to take on the break with my closest friends. What's better than closing off the year, than with a week away with the friends that have been there throughout the years.

3. I vow to limit my social media usage. I'll admit it, social media is my guilty pleasure. I love to post about my fun adventures and seeing others' as well, but with only 12 months left in my college career, I plan to put down my phone and live to the fullest. What's the point of watching people post about fun things, when you could be out there doing the same?

4. I vow to find a hobby. Throughout my college career, I've always felt too busy to pick up a hobby that I truly love. I never felt like I had enough time in the day to sit down and do something for me. This year, I plan to find something I love and take time out of my day to get lost and unwind. Whether its journaling, drawing, or working out, I plan to find something that suits me.

5. I vow to savor every moment. It's bittersweet to think that my college career is almost over. As I come to the realization that I will never get these years back, I vow to savor every moment I have left. Whether its writing a paper or having a wine night with the girls, I plan to give my all to every moment I experience. We will never get these moments back, so live in the moment and enjoy the ride.

If I have learned one thing in my lifetime, it is that friends are a privilege. No one is required to give you their company and yet there is some sort of shared connection that keeps you together. And from that friendship, you may even find yourself lucky enough to have a few more friends, thus forming a group. Here are just a few signs that prove your current friend group is the ultimate friend group.

When it comes to television, there’s very few sets of on-screen siblings that a lot of us can relate to. Only those who have grown up with siblings knows what it feels like to fight, prank, and love a sibling. Ross and Monica Geller were definitely overbearing and overshared some things through the series of "Friends," but they captured perfectly what real siblings feel in real life. Some of their antics were funny, some were a little weird but all of them are completely relatable to brothers and sisters everywhere.

College is a great place to meet people, especially through Greek life. If you look closely at sororities, you'll quickly see there are many different types of girls you will meet.

1. The Legacy.

Her sister was a member, her mom was a member, all of her aunts were members, and her grandma was a member. She has been waiting her whole life to wear these letters and cried hysterically on bid day. Although she can act entitled at times, you can bet she is one of the most enthusiastic sisters.

Every kid in college and/or high school dreams of summer the moment they walk through the door on the first day back in September. It becomes harder and harder to focus in classes and while doing assignments as the days get closer. The winter has been lagging, the days are short and dark, and no one is quite themselves due to lack of energy and sunlight. Let's face it: life is ten times better in the summertime.
