The Holy Spirit is a Necessity

The Senior Quote That Still Applies
Lacy Frost
"I don't want my life to be explainable without the Holy Spirit. I want people to look at my life and know that I could not be doing this on my own power. I want to live in such a way that I am desperate for him to come through. That if he doesn't come through, I'm screwed."
-Francis Chan

I am a freshman in college now, but I once again am writing about high school.

At the beginning of senior year, my youth minister at the time challenged me to show the love of Christ. He said that I should live the final year of high school with no regrets about sharing the Gospel. I should share the Gospel in all ways possible. This was a huge challenge to me.

A few weeks after meeting with my youth minister, I heard the quote above and I knew it was going to be my senior quote and that I could apply this to my daily life.

I want to break down a few of the points that I took and ran with.

"I don't want my life to be explainable..."

Stop there- My life has been created by God He knows my name, thoughts and the number of hairs on my head. My life, along with all humans, was made in his image.

"Without the Holy Spirit..."

The holy spirit brings conviction in us sinful humans and lives inside believers I believe that God's people are united through the Holy Spirit. Believers should desire to get unbelievers to ask Christ into their heart.

"Not be doing this by my own power..."

I am a sinner in need of a Savior. I can't do this life on my own power. Jesus desires a relationship with me and he saved me from my sins. I also desire to know him better each day.

"I am desperate for Him to come through..."

I have to live out my daily life with a kingdom perspective. I need Christ more than my next breath.

This quote has gained a special place in my heart and I desire to live with Christ in mind. He is a good Father.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
